There are many architectures that belong to our daily life. Nevertheless, there are a few places that we are willing to call home.

Home is intricately tied to emotional well-being and the roots we establish. It goes beyond bricks and mortar; it is where we find solace, form our identities and cherish memories. However, for those who lack a residence, it is not merely the absence of material possessions, but also a profound sense of exclusion and social disengagement that they endure. This lead us to ask ourselves, what do we have within our reach and which role do we take in this changing world?

Our project has been honoured with a Mention Prize in YAC Academy “Home After Crisis.” This competition, initiated by the UN Migration and funded by the Nigerian Humanitarian Fund, presented a pressing challenge: to devise an affordable, incremental, modular, and adaptable housing solution for populations disrupted by violence in North-East Nigeria.

Participating in this competition was more than a professional pursuit; it was an opportunity to contribute to rebuilding lives in the aftermath of crisis. It called for more than just creating structures; it demanded the recreation of homes, identities, and the restoration of affections and memories through architectural solutions.
